Understanding Cancer Biology
Tumor is a new organism formed when the cells of local tissues lose normal regulation of their growth at the genetic level under the influence of various carcinogenic factors, resulting in abnormal clonal proliferation. Tumors are divided into two categories: benign and malignant. Benign tumors are generally called "tumors", malignant tumors from epithelial tissues are called "cancer", and those from mesenchymal tissues are called "sarcomas".
